A few excerpts from the interview with the gorgeous lady behind The Jewel Label, Uma Agarwal:

You have a lovely profile Uma. Do you personally design all the jewelry under The Jewel Label?

Yes,everything under the Label is designed and curated by me myself. Each piece is hand finished by skilled goldsmiths. We have our own manufacturing unit equipped with latest technology, CAD CAM machinery.

Uncut Diamond jewelry is manufactured at Jaipur and Bikaner City, Rajasthan.

Okay, and what is your creative process like?

We give our clients the opportunity to choose their own jewelry that reflects style, occasion and uniqueness. Our creative/ bespoke jewelry process starts from consultancy with the client, based on the requirement and budget. We then head to creating the design. A wax model is presented to the client for the approval. And the final step is setting up the stones and adding up the pieces.

What is the range of your products? And how do you categorize them?

The range starts from Rs.10,000 and there’s no end, depending on the product. Under our label, you can find different categories of jewelry line depending on the prices. We generally have less priced jewelry in our 9 to 5 corporate collection.

That’s affordable! And where all do you sell?

We meet clients on an appointment basis. We also do our private exhibitions in Metro and Tier 2 cities to reach out our clientele. Recently, we have entered into retail as well.

Yes, you have recently opened your store in Gold Souk, Gurgaon. Tell us more about it?

Yes, we have recently opened our brand in a multi branded store Avenue Montaigne, Gold Souk Gurgaon. It aims to focus on the designs and also on the retail price (Designer jewelry at an affordable price). We make sure that our client is 100% satisfied with our product finishing and services.

Tell us something about the kind of clients that walk in to your store.

The walk in clientele is a mix of both corporate & household. Our brand is getting a great response in terms of design, price and further sales services. We expect a great business during the Festive & Wedding season.

Lovely! And which is your best selling design/ line?

As it’s a bespoke fine jewelry house, we keep on working on designs as per the market demands. We also try to not to repeat the same design. If I’ll have to talk about the particular design/ line, I would say diamond bands with jacket and solitaires are a fast selling product.

What do you think is your USP and why people should buy from you?

The Jewel Label is a bespoke fine jewelry house where the client sits down with the designer and collaborates in an imaginative process to create something beautiful, meaningful and highly functional. At every step of the jewelry making process, we encourage the client to express the opinions and be involved in the process. We want each project to reflect the client’s own personal style and taste and for each and every client to be absolutely delighted with the final product.

For example, after finalizing the design, the client will choose her own certified diamonds, setting style and metal- if she wants the white, rose or yellow polish gold, in 14k or 18k.

We provide certified Solitaires of GIA, IGI, HRD-internationally reputed labs in the diamond world.

Giving a personal touch to every jewelry piece, we not only focus on designing, but also the functionality.

How do you plan to position yourself in the ever-growing market?

Creating a successful brand to the point where it leaves a personal legacy behind is appealing and serves as motivation for many others. The Indian jewelry customers are diverse based on region, categories, price point and occasions.

The Jewel Label caters to those who believe in customization in terms of fine jewelry. It aims to attract high-end clientele such as HNIs & UHNIs. We also plan our presence in tier 2 cities in India, as well as internationally in the US market, which has a positive outlook and have shown a double digit growth.

What motivates you?
